The Self- Healing

Challenge

Welcome beautiful souls!

I am beyond excited to host this challenge for you.

We currently live in prolonged uncertainty and sustained discomfort right? This year has shaken the world but one thing I have learnt is...the only way through is to TAKE CARE OF YOU!

Below you will find this week's challenges and on Sunday we will come together for a live Master Class on zoom!

By fully committing to this challenge you are taking the step to upgrading your wellbeing and beginning the inner work on healing wounds. WE ALL HAVE WOUNDS.

Now you don't need to be broken to want to feel amazing. We should all want to feel our best because feeling our best means we can then show up as our best for others right?

These practices are healing tools for you to steal. Integrating Yoga, Mindfulness, Meditation, Music and Self- Care into life can bring forward a new, healthier, happier and connected version of yourself.

So it's time to do some self-healing and caring...

TIP: I recommend you read each day ahead the night before so you can set time to participate in each session.

BRAIN FREQUENCY...

A MORNING WITHOUT YOUR PHONE- for at least 1 hour after waking up!

When we wake up and get straight on our phone/ computer we are more likely to feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed for the rest of the day

.

Without getting too scientific, your subconscious mind is MOST active when you wake up so in order to have a more positive day and accomplish things we can train the brain and begin the day right.

Firstly our phones are a distraction and starting the day on the phone affects our ability to prioritize tasks later on which means using your phone after waking up will reduce your ability to not get distracted later when wanting to complete tasks.

Secondly, dopamine is a hormone that is released when we use our smartphones to check emails or go on social media. If we are stimulating our brain with these hits of dopamine at the beginning of the day then the brain will repeat this behavior throughout the rest of the day meaning the addiction will be REAL. Addiction is time-consuming and unhealthy for the mind. We want a clear mind.

INSTEAD: on waking up...

MAKE YOUR BED

MEDITATE

VISUALISE THE LIFE YOU WANT

REPEAT YOUR AFFIRMATIONS-  which leads me onto your next task...

MORNING TASK: TIME 10 MINUTES

On waking up sit in a cross seated position or with your legs hanging over the side of the bed. Close your eyes and take 10 deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

After breathing, sit with the natural rhythm of your breath and notice the stillness and appreciate the calm. In this, you are holding space for YOU.

Your affirmation as you sit here is "TODAY IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY". you can say it out loud 5 times or visualize the words.

REPEAT THIS EVERY DAY THIS WEEK AND YOU WILL NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE!

SOUND HEALING- sounds for the soul

Yang Yoga Class- please note this is the longest practice inside this space.

Monday is a great day for Yoga because it helps you start the week right! This class is energizing for all levels beginner and beyond.

Mindfulness MeditationAlyssa Martyn

TASK: A MINDFUL MORNING

When you wake up spend some time in bed before rising. Once awake go over to the nearest window (preferably one with a view). Look out to the outside world and notice all the shapes and colors but don't associate anything with their names like " this is a tree", just let the sights in and then let them go.

The trick is to NOTICE all of the textures, colors, shapes and sizes without associating each thing.

Here we are seeing the world in the most simple of ways. Liken it to a baby seeing for the first time, with no judgments, no expectations or associations. Take this small fragment of the world in mindfully.

Being mindful can add years to your life!

Mindfulness has many benefits, some of which include; relieving stress, lowering blood pressure, improving sleep, reducing chronic pain, and unclogging the mind.

wednesday

GROUNDING

Take your shoes and socks off, roll up your trousers and go outside for a moment or if already in nature find a spot to proceed.

Stepping onto concrete, rocks, mud, soil, sand or grass connects us to Earth's electrical current. Walking barefoot on Earth connects us to its negative electrons which can boost energy, strengthen the immune system, reduce stress and improve sleep,

Soaking up Earths energies through the soles of your feet is such a simple act that can have you smiling and feeling great in a short amount of time!

Allow all the heavy and unwanted energies to pour out through your feet by walking, jumping, skipping or simply planting down firmly on the spot and being completely present.

Maybe tip your head up slightly the sky or sun.

Breathe.

Grow through the top of the head as you press your feet into the ground absorbing those delicious grounding energies that can help you feel more centered too.

Yin/Restorative Evening Practice

Chant- Ong Namo- I BOW TO ALL THAT IS

Chanting is amazing to either do or listen to for we are playing with vibrations and soothing the nervous system.

Sacred songs have positive messages which boost positivity and chanting also reduces depression, stress, anxiety, and encourages relaxation.

I bow to all that isArtist Name

NEW AFFIRMATION- "I AM PEACE" Repeat 5 times.

thursday

Guided Meditation- You will need a candle

Guided Flame MeditationAlyssa Martyn
00:00 / 13:55

WORD FAST...

For the first hour or more of the day allow yourself to not say a word. Word fasting is great for creating space in the mind.

It's also a great way to monitor word vomit. Ever felt like your talking too much? Ever been sick of your own voice and thought why am I oversharing, overtalking? That's word vomit.

Word vomit is a result of not speaking mindfully, I am sure you have witnessed someone just talking at you and things not really making much sense or having much relevance, you can feel drained if you are on the receiving end or on the giving of this!

Once we tune in to our talking we can start to think before we speak and become more mindful. By doing this we create more space in the mind.

I AM BEAUTIFUL  AND STRONG

I AM NOT MY WORRIES OR CONCERNS

THROAT CHAKRA ACTIVATION - THE VISHUDHA

EVENING PRACTICE- WIND DOWN

saturday

MORNING Energising Breathwork to bring the flow of prana (life force energy/breath) into our IDA and Pingala Nadi's - Think of this as two energy channels that represent the YIN and YANG- moon and sun- passive state vs energized state. To put it simply, we are unblocking these channels so that our breath can flow better which overall brightens the being.

TASK: JOURNALING

Journalling works for some of us. I go through phases but what I do find is that when I do write, I am holding space for myself and  I am able to check in with my INNER VOICE.

So today I would like you to sit for a moment and reflect on any disempowering thoughts/beliefs either present or past that still creep up on you.

Now taking pen to paper, write down these limiting thoughts/ beliefs, for example:

I am not loveable.

THEN, I want you to reverse the belief and write it down, for example:

I am so lovable because I am genuine, fun, smart, and kind.

Do this for as many thoughts or beliefs that come up and don't be afraid to elaborate on each one. The list might be longer than you thought!

By doing this we are re-wiring our brain. Our negative thoughts and beliefs are what hold us back and they are born out of trauma and conditioning.

We have the power to change the story we tell ourselves!

sunday

TASK: ALL ABOUT YOU- LOVE AND CELEBRATION

Write down 4 things that you LOVE doing.

Dedicate at least 10 minutes to each one of these things if not longer. Could be as simple as having a cuppa or reading a page or two of your book.

Write down 4 things that you can celebrate about yourself for eg:

 I celebrate my working body

I  celebrate my ability to keep going.

Mantra- I AM LOVE

What Members say...

Sophie. N

From my first yoga class with you as my teacher I felt connected to the music you were playing in the background.  I remember feeling good vibes and a feeling of awakening within myself.  Those feelings deepened when I heard you sing for the first time.  Your voice is so pure, it comes from your heart, soul and it is beautiful.

Last night, I sat somewhere comfortable, put my earphones on and listened to The Spiritual Journey meditation .

I was blown away by how suddenly it all made sense. I have been looking at the outside world to give me love, to protect and to guide me when all along the answer has been within me!

Thank you Alyssa for providing us with such an array of information, knowledge and beautiful music. Thank you for giving me all the tools I ever needed.

"Wow! I am loving my time in The Self Collective. It's great to be able to do Alyssa's sessions when I want and her workshops have been an enlightening experience for me. I absolutely love the Recommendations area. Being part of this has certainly encouraged me to check in with ME and love my own time. Just what I needed!"

Chris Betts

"I love Alyssa's yoga sessions! I always feel envigourated and yet totally relaxed after each session. Her sessions suit all levels - I'm not a yogi expert but it doesn't matter at all, Alyssa ensures no-one feels intimidated if they can't do any moves. I really enjoy her singing mantras in the sessions too. I thoroughly recommend The Self Collective, it's great having a mix of yoga sessions to choose from and a live session each week. The variety on offer, apart from yoga, in the Self Collective is great- it really makes you stop and think about you for a change. I now do so much more yoga than I did as a gym member as it gives me the flexibility to fit it in to suit me in the comfort of my own home- our pets like to join in too so we have yoga, doga and coga sessions. Alyssa is calming, friendly, positive and genuine which makes the yoga sessions feel special and personal. Looking forward to the next self collective update and added extras during each month."
